God loves you. How many times have you heard that? Probably too many to count, right? Well, let me ask you this: how many times have you believed it? Better yet, how many times have you received it? I’m going to go out on a limb and say that the latter has happened far less than the former. We hear that God loves us, but more often than not, we don’t believe it or receive it. As believers in Jesus Christ, this shouldn’t be the case. As children of the Most High God, being loved is our birthright.
Initially, I had a difficult time receiving God’s love. I didn’t feel worthy of His love unless I earned it by performing for it (i.e. praying, reading the Bible, etc). That was a lie from Satan. I learned that I can’t earn God’s love. God’s love is a gift, and I simply have to receive it.
So, if you find yourself in the same boat I was in (trying to earn God’s love instead of simply receiving it), I encourage you to spend time with the Lord. Let Him reveal those broken places within you that is hindering your ability to believe and receive His love. However, if you have never accepted Jesus as your Lord & Savior, that is the first step in believing and receiving the love of the Father (See Romans 10:9 & John 14:6).
Just think, how different would all of us show up in the world if we not only knew we were loved by God, but we believed it and received it? How many of us would love God better, love ourselves better, and love those around us better? How many of us would receive love better? The answer: ALL OF US! Therefore, I encourage you, for the betterment of your life and the lives of those around you, to believe and receive God’s love today!
