Death Comes to Every Man

I once watched a sermon by Paul Washer, and he said something that stuck with me: You cannot have an encounter with Jesus Christ and not be changed. That’s just like someone who comes to you and tells you that they were just hit by a Mack truck going 60mph. However, when you examine them, they are completely intact. They have no broken bones or bruises. Undoubtedly, you will look at that person and think two things: (1) You’re crazy or (2) You’re a liar.

This is so profound and true. When we accept Jesus as our Lord & Savior, our old man, who we use to be, dies. The one who was a slave to sin is no more.

“Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away. Behold, all things are new” (2 Corinthians 5:17).

When we become believers and followers of Jesus Christ, there are things in our life that we have to lay down and pick up. Anything that grieves Him and is in contradiction to His Word has to fall away. Now that I’m a child of the King, sin is beneath who I am called to be. I am called to be conformed to the image of Jesus Christ (Roman’s 8:29). I am the head and not the tail, above only and not beneath. I am the righteousness of God in Jesus Christ (2 Corinthians 5:21).

So, I encourage you today to take inventory of your life. What are some things that you have to lay down? What are some things that you need to pick up? Please know that you don’t have to do it in your own strength. Ask the Holy Spirit to help you. He lives on the inside of you and will empower you to do all that God has ordained you to do. Be encouraged! You are deeply loved and cherished! Muah! ❤
