The Enemy of Your Soul: A Poem

We have an enemy of our soul who seeks to steal, kill and destroy everything that Jesus died for us to have:

“The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy. I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full” (John 10:10).

However, don’t be afraid. The enemy has no power in or over the children of God.

“We know that whoever is born of God does not sin; but he who has been born of God keeps himself, and the wicked one does not touch him” (1 John 5:18-19).

Although, the devil knows he is a defeated foe, it doesn’t stop him from orchestrating schemes and tactics to destroy us:

“Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil walks about like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour” (1 Peter 5:8).

When the devil comes, we must (1) put on the whole armor of God, (2) resist Him, and (3) stand firm. We must take our place and rule over him. He is underneath our feet and that’s where he must remain.

“Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand” (Ephesians 6:13).

“Therefore submit to God. Resist the devil and he will flee from you” (James 4:7).

Be encouraged! No weapon formed against you will prosper (Isaiah 54:17). ❤
