As a believer and follower of Jesus Christ, you are in a war for your soul. I don’t want to alarm you, I want to make you aware.
You live in a fallen world that is under the sway of the evil one, the devil (1 John 5:19). The enemy of your soul, the devil, prowls about like a roaring lion seeking whom he may devour (1 Peter 5:8). He’s always looking for a chink in your armor–an entry point into your proverbial city–so he can steal, kill, and destroy.
Thus, it’s imperative that you are able to ascertain God’s will in every season of your life so you’re not led astray by your own lust and desire or deceived into going down the wrong path by the enemy.
3 Spheres of God’s will
1. God’s revealed will
• Found in the Scriptures (The Bible)
• You respond by obeying it
• Read the Bible and rule out everything forbidden and rule in everything revealed
• Pray: God help me to obey what You have revealed in Your Word
2. God’s discerned will (Romans 12:2)
• We discern God’s will by testing and pursuing the path of wisdom
• Pray: Lord, give me wisdom to discern Your will
3. God’s secret will (Ephesians 1:7-12)
• God works all things according to the counsel of His will. There are some things about our lives that God keeps secret until it’s time for Him to reveal it to us. Those things belong to Him and not to us. When God chooses not to reveal what He’s going to do, how He’s going to do it, or when He’s going to do it, we must have faith and trust Him
• Pray: God, give me the faith to trust in your secret will
