Wisdom Wednesday: Can the devil talk to you?

Yes, the devil can talk to you.

We know this to be true because of the temptation and fall of mankind that is recorded in Genesis 3, and the account of the devil tempting Jesus found in the Gospel of Matthew, Mark, and Luke.

The devil ONLY comes to steal, kill, and destroy (John 10:10).

The devil came to speak to Eve so he could steal, kill, and destroy God’s creation: mankind. God told Adam and Eve that the day in which they ate from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil they would surely die. And guess what, that’s exactly what the devil tricked and deceived Eve into doing.

Similarly, when the devil came to speak to Jesus, he wanted to steal, kill, and destroy God’s plan to save mankind through His Son, Jesus Christ. Fortunately, for all of us, the devil was unsuccessful. Jesus defeated him with the Word of God.

If you’re a child of God, the devil is going to come to speak to you too. Understand, that he will come to steal, kill, and destroy something God has given you, wants to give you, or will give you.

Thus, the devil will try to:

1. Cast doubt on God’s Word to you. The devil wants to put question marks where God has put periods (J.D. Greer). If he can get you to doubt God’s Word, he can trick and deceive you into doing something outside of God’s will for your life.

2. If he can’t get you to doubt God’s Word, he will try to entice and tempt you with (the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life) to do the opposite of what God told you to do. He wants you to lay down what God has called you to do and pick up what He hasn’t.

3.The devil will use your desires to deceive you. Sometimes you can want something so bad that you believe the devil’s lies and do something God never intended you to do to get something God never intended you to have. Therefore, surrender your desires to God. Ask Him what His plans are and act accordingly.

Main objective of the devil: to thwart God’s plan for your life so you never do what God wants you to do and always do what He doesn’t want you to do.

When the devil comes, fight with the Word of God. Stay close and walk in step with the Chief Shepherd: Jesus Christ. The devil can by no means harm you when you are abiding in the true vine and walking in obedience to God.

Be watchful. Be sober. Be encouraged. You are loved! ❤
