How can you abide in the Lord?

One of the most powerful ways that you can abide in the Lord is by reading God’s word (the Bible).

Hebrews 4:12 tells us that “the word of God is living and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the division of the soul and spirit, and of joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.”

“All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work” (2 Timothy 3:16-17).

The word of God cleanses us, sanctifies us, convicts us, and prepares us for the work God has called us to do. It’s the primary way that we grow in the knowledge and revelation of God and what He has done for mankind through His Son Jesus Christ.

God uses His word to speak to us–giving us direction and wisdom to live our lives holy, righteously, and obediently before Him. His word is our compass and light in a dark and fallen world.

These are just some of the reasons why the devil doesn’t want you to read it. Without it, you’re lost like a pilot experiencing spatial disorientation. You think up is down and down is up. During your time away from God’s word, the enemy is going to reinforce this disorientation and confusion.

He’s going to work overtime to distort the truth of God’s word and His voice in order to deceive you into sinning against God and reaping the consequences thereof.

One of the key strategies of the devil is to stop you from abiding in God. He wants you to take your eyes of God so he can entice you to put them on something that he will send into your life to derail you. He wants you to stop following God so you can start following him. He wants you to stop listening to God’s voice so you can listen to his voice.

When you stop reading, studying, and meditating on God’s word, you become more susceptible to the devil’s schemes, tactics, and plans to destroy your life and God’s plan for it.

Don’t give him an open door. If you have laid down God’s word, don’t fret. You can pick it back up today!

Be encouraged! You are loved! ❤
