“I am the true vine, and My Father is the vine dresser. Every branch in Me that does not bear fruit He takes away; and every branch that bears fruit He prunes, that it may bear more fruit” (John 15:1-2).
As believers and followers of Jesus Christ, we are called to abide in Jesus. If we abide in Him, and He abides in us, we will bear fruit. However, if we don’t abide in Him, we are cut off and cast out as a branch.
So, I want to ask you: Are you abiding in the Lord? Are you in relationship with Him? Are you being obedient to Him? Are you walking in His will and according to the plan He has for your life?
Now that you’ve answered the aforementioned, I have one more question: Are you in the process of being cut off as a branch or are you being pruned so that you bear more fruit?
As a disciple of Jesus Christ, you are supposed to bear the fruit of the Holy Spirit: (1) love, (2) joy, (3) peace, (4) patience, (5) kindness, (6) goodness, (7) faithfulness, (8) gentleness, and (9) self-control. In fact, Jesus said that the fruit someone bears will be an indicator that they are His disciple (Matthew 7:16-20).
Thus, as a believer and follower of Jesus Christ, you are like a fruit bearing tree, and the people God has placed in your life are like fruit testers. Being in relationship with others, exposes the type of fruit you are bearing or the lack of fruit you have.
So, I want to encourage you today to examine your tree. Are you abiding in the true vine? Are you bearing fruit? Are you bearing good fruit? Are you being pruned? If so, rejoice! God is cutting away the dead things in your life so that you bear even more fruit. Your brothers and sisters will feast on your harvest and you will be more like your Father in heaven. ❤
