In Pursuit of the One I Love…

Where there once was only discipline, there is now love.

Out of discipline, I use to pray, read the Bible, worship, and spend time with God.

Now, I do those disciplines out of love.

I pray because I know I will find Him there.

I read the Bible because I know I will find Him there.

I worship because I know I will find Him there.

I set aside time for Him and wait because I know He will meet me there.

I do all of these things in pursuit of the One I love: Jesus Christ! ❤

When we begin our walk with the Lord there are certain things (praying, reading the Bible, worshipping God, spending time with Him) we have to discipline ourselves to do for our spiritual health and growth.

But as we mature and our relationship with the Lord grows deeper, we began do the aforementioned not only out of discipline, but love. Our spirit yearns to be close to the One we love. Our spirit desires to please the One we love. So, we do those things that draw us closer to the One we love.

Reading the Bible, praying, worshipping God, and spending with Him draw us closer to Jesus. And when we draw close to Him, He draws close to us (James 4:8). These disciplines help us to walk in the Spirit and not our flesh. They help us to do His will and surrender our own. They help us to obey Him by keeping His word and commandments. They help us to abide in Him and follow Him.

Don’t neglect these disciplines. If they have fallen by the wayside, it’s not too late to pick them back up!

Be encouraged! You are loved! ❤
